GNLD scientific advisory board fruit article imageThe importance of fruits and vegetable consumption for overall health, maximal longevity, and warding off chronic disease is well known.   We’ve been told for years now that we need to “strive for five” servings every day.   But new research published in the European Heart Journal just raised the bar to 8 or more servings each day.   They point out that the evidence from an observational study of over 300,000 people shows a lower risk of dying from heart disease for those eating 8 servings of fruits and vegetables compared to those eating less than 3 servings a day.

Another reason to make a long-term habit of taking your daily vitamin!   Research suggests that adults who take multivitamins continuously for 10 years or more have a substantially lower risk of developing colon cancer, when compared to those who don’t.(1)   In fact, their risk of developing colon cancer is decreased by nearly 30%!
