LACTOSE Intolerance Explained

LACTOSE molecules cannot be directly absorbed by the body.   Therefore, LACTOSE has to be split into smaller molecules in order to be absorbed and transported across the wall of the intestines.   LACTOSE intolerance is caused by a deficiency of the intestinal enzyme LACTASE that splits the milk sugar (LACTOSE) into two smaller sugar molecules, glucose and galactose, and allows LACTOSE to be absorbed from the intestine before it reaches the colon.   These two smaller sugar molecules are more easily absorbed by the body and used for metabolism.   Continue reading to discover causes and relief strategies…….

WASHINGTON, (Water Tech) — The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has proposed 30 currently unregulated contaminants for monitoring in water systems, according to a press release.   The Safe Drinking Water Act requires that EPA identify up to 30 unregulated contaminants for monitoring every five years.

In 1922, Herbert Evans and Katherine Bishop of the University of California, Berkeley, discovered a substance in lettuce that prevented fetal resorption in rats, thus demonstrating that the substance was necessary for reproduction in these animals.   The substance was isolated from wheat germ oil in 1936 and dubbed “tocopherol” from the Greek words “tokos” (childbirth) and “phero” (to bring forth).

Tap water is regulated by the EPA, while bottled water is regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).   Perpetually under-funded and short-staffed, FDA has a poor record of protecting consumer health and safety.   FDA sends inspectors to bottling plants once every two to three years.
