Don Huber was Emeritus Professor at Purdue University when he began to write about glyphosate, the active ingredient in the weed killer, “Roundup”. He observed that glyphosate is a chelating agent. It grabs onto minerals and prevents plants from using them. Weeds require manganese to protect themselves from plant diseases. They quickly die when glyphosate is added to the soil. Crops are being genetically engineered to survive the application of glyphosate. They are resistant to application of the compound–not immune.
