Have You Thought About Iodine?
Iodine has been reported to help resist healthy cell damage from radiation treatments. Do not confuse iosol iodine and potassium iodide — potassium iodide can interfere with the body’s ability to restore the metabolism and can effect thyroid conditions.
Iosol iodine (IO for iodine, SOL for solubility) from the TPCS Company (USA 1-800-838-8727) has been in use since the 1940′s as a dietary supplement to raise the metabolism and support the thyroid. Iosol is non-toxic and water soluble.
Cancer can be viral (fast growth) and fungal (slow growth). The mycotoxin from the fungus creates the cancer. Iodine is highly anti-fungal and detoxes the body. Bromine (pastry, breads, etc) inhibits iodine. Fluoride also depletes iodine. Work your way up to 100 mcg per day if you are getting some in your diet.
Iodine is an essential element. In 1914, the US Government intervened when a lack of iodine in the atmosphere created a goiter belt and so they added iodine to milk and salt to prevent goiter. The term “goiter” refers to a thyroid gland which becomes enlarged when it desperately searches for iodine. Potassium iodide is used to add iodine to regular salt so that the iodine is not lost by oxidation. After iodine was added to salt, the incidence of hypothyroid dropped dramatically in this country. Ask your grandmother why she insists on using iodized Morton salt — she learned that from her mother during the first World War. But the potassium iodide in table salt is only 10% bioavailable for your body to absorb.
Iosol Iodine is the premier iodine supplement. During the production of Iosol, iodine is extracted from kelp and made into pure iodine crystals. This is not potassium iodide, rather it is an unbound form of iodine which is water soluble making free iodide readily available for your body to use. Potassium iodide is not very soluble in water and may be difficult for your body to easily use. Also, potassium iodide has been shown to congest the thyroid gland when taken in high doses which is how Hashimotoa’s thyroiditis was first discovered (Japanese citizens consuming too many sea vegetables). So switch to Real Salt and start taking Iosol Iodine as a supplement if you are not getting enough iodine from your diet (milk, mozzarella cheese, kelp, yogurt, strawberries and eggs).
The RDA for iodine was established in 1980 based on the amount of iodine needed to prevent goiter, “extreme stupidity” (they actually said that…) and hypothyroidism. Daily amounts vary with each individual and their activity level and time of year as hot and cold weather effect the amount of iodine the body requires.
GNLD’s uni-packs (Stress 30™, Sports 30™ and Active 40 Plus™) contain 100 mcg of iodine from kelp (66% of the RDA). Kelp is an algae that reduces absorption of cadmium and may help to remove other toxins.
The information on these pages is not designed to diagnose, prescribe, cure or treat but rather lists GNLD products that meet the needs of certain situations.
